I’m trying to finish a new children’s book. This one’s about rats. But more on that, later. Here are some new paintings:

Paul Beatty, brilliant author of the comic novel, “The Sellout”
A quick portrait of Alexie Navalny.
I had made several disastrous attempts at painting Benjamin Franklin; the man had an oddly-shaped face, and my experience with faces kept leading me towards making his face more like other faces I’d painted—which wasn’t particularly true to Franklin. So this one looks like a mix of Phillip Roth and Franklin, and successfully evokes neither man.
So it goes.
